Celebrating Volunteers’ Week: Rhian on Power of Volunteering

To mark Volunteers’ Week, Youth United Foundation’s Trustee Rhian Moore, shares what volunteering means to her:

Volunteering is a central part of my life, so Volunteers’ Week is a moment to reflect on how important it is to give back and the impact it has on others.

Alongside my professional role, I volunteer as a Trustee with the Youth United Foundation and I am a Scout. For me, it’s about using my skills and experience to support others, particularly those in volunteer leadership roles, so they can create opportunities for young people to grow, develop and thrive. That’s something I’ve been passionate about for many years through my involvement with Scouts, where I saw first-hand the impact that supported and empowered volunteers can have in their communities, as both a local volunteer and in my role as Chief Volunteer of Wales.

There are so many ways to get involved in volunteering - from trustee and governance roles through to practical, hands-on support in youth groups and community organisations across the country. Volunteering isn’t just about giving time. It’s about backing people, building confidence and helping others succeed. When we invest in volunteers, we strengthen the communities and young people they support.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, I’d really encourage you to take that first step - there are opportunities out there to suit every skillset, and the impact you can make is significant.
