Funding available for youth-led heritage projects!

Do you know a group that might be interested in exploring local history and heritage? We have microgrants available for youth-led heritage projects in uniformed youth groups in England.

The funding supports young people to develop projects that explore heritage that matters to them and their communities, share it with others, and strengthen people’s sense of belonging and connection. Projects must take place before February 2027.

The deadline to apply is 1 November. If you’re a volunteer, leader or someone who supports young people, please consider sharing this opportunity with a group that could benefit.

We’re happy to have a chat and offer support with putting an application together.

Welcoming Our New Youth Voice Ambassadors!

new YVA

We’re delighted to welcome 13 young people to our new Youth Voice Ambassador cohort, bringing together six returning ambassadors and seven new members from uniformed youth organisations across England. At their first meeting on 7 October, the group connected, shared updates on their activities and explored the latest developments across the Heritage Youth Partnership. They also shared exciting ideas for a project event in 2027, including potential content, audiences and ways to encourage engagement. With experience spanning Army Cadets, Girlguiding, Girls’ Brigade, Scouts, Sea Cadets and St John Ambulance Cadets, the ambassadors bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for heritage and youth voice. We look forward to working with them as they help ensure young people’s ideas and perspectives shape the future of the project.

Cubs discover the heritage of their community

Hear from the Cubs of 8th/19th Harrow, volunteers and attendees as they share how a local war memorial inspired them to explore their community’s history. A microgrant from the Heritage Youth Partnership enabled them to uncover family and cultural heritage and bring people together through a community Heritage Fair.

Youth Voice Ambassadors Shape The Future Of Heritage

Our Youth Voice Ambassadors recently attended Youth Voices for Heritage, a two-day event at Delapré Abbey led by Historic England and the National Trust. Bringing together young people and heritage organisations, the event explored barriers to accessing heritage, the links between heritage and young people’s wellbeing, and ways to strengthen youth engagement and representation across the sector. Through discussions, a guided tour, networking and a project design lab, attendees shared ideas and developed plans to help make heritage more accessible and inclusive for young people.
