FOR HERITAGE ORGANISATIONS
The Heritage Youth Partnership offers resources and support to heritage organisations and uniformed youth organisations. We want to make it as easy as possible for the sectors to work together, so that more young people can explore local heritage.

Heritage projects should be focused on the young people's interests. Some ideas and examples of ways you could support:
- Work with a local uniformed youth group to develop a Takeover Day.
- Provide a tour of your heritage site for a uniformed youth group.
- Share stories of the people and communities of your heritage site and the local area, during a tour of your site or as a visitor to a weekly uniformed group session.
- Offer opportunities for uniformed groups to complete their badges and accreditations at your heritage site e.g. learning about local history, outdoor activities, DofE.
- Host a local uniformed group's awards night or event.
Youth United Foundation is a network of the nation's leading uniformed youth organisations:
- Air Cadets,
- Army Cadets,
- Boys’ Brigade,
- Fire Cadets,
- Girlguiding,
- Girls’ Brigade,
- Jewish Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade,
- Royal Navy Cadet Forces,
- Scouts,
- Sea Cadets,
- St John Ambulance Cadets,
- Volunteer Police Cadets.
These 12 network organisations work directly with 1.5m young people, aged between 4-24. Uniformed youth groups tend to meet weekly, on weekday evenings and sometimes weekends. They develop young people's life skills and give them opportunities to experience outdoor pursuits and achieve accreditations.
In the 2024-25 phase of the Heritage Youth Partnership, we funded 7 local heritage projects with microgrants. You can read 3 case studies below:
We have a limited number of £600 microgrants available for heritage projects led by young people from uniformed groups. These can be enriched by being delivered in partnership with heritage organisations. Eligible projects should connect uniformed groups with their heritage, bring about positive change in the community and share the heritage exploration and results. Please get in touch if you are interested in finding out more. You can find the application form below.
